For me music is a passion. You cannot separate me with music, especially gospel music. I started early playing kwaito, hip-hop and soul music. The funny thing about me was that i would always have a gospel track to include in my music. After i got saved, discovered myself as a gospel singer and later realized that i had a calling to respond to. Later on i started composing and writing gospel music.
The title of my album is “MARU”, the revelation, Moeketsi said. Maru is my annointed name and is also connected or linked to my real name “MARUPING”. I was blessed to announce that we just released our 1st music video titled “THIXO BAWO” on the 21st May 2019.
Maru confirmed that he has thus far recorded one music album and is working on another project in addition to promoting a song entitled “I AM HEALED”. The song, “I am healed”is related to my personal life experiences after the passing on of my father, Moeketsi said.
With regard to the connection between the current track to the previous album he responded by saying, “the relation is about maturity and development in content and lyrics. Moeketsi has conceded that his music is intended to uplift and reconcile people with their Creator, thus referring to their “spiritual healing”.
As an artist I am influenced by great artists such as TD Jakes, Jabu Hlongwane, Setshaba, and Wintley Phipps, hence my intention is to venture into International platforms wherein I will be able to influence International audiences. Locally I want to influence young people and to encourage them to follow their passion and to help them focus in life. I will pray for them and motivate them in a way that will lead them to God.
