Arthur Bongani Zitha’s acting career

Arthur Zitha is a South African actor best known for his starring role as Bobo in the SABC1 sitcom iThuba Lokugcina. He has also made guest appearances on such series as the SABC1 horror series Room 9 and the eKasi+ sitcom uSkroef noSexy.

Arthur completed his BADA degree majoring in performance studies and play writing at WITS. He also studied a Postgraduate study in Arts, Culture & Heritage Management with the same institution in 2012. He began his acting training when he enrolled for Saturday acting classes at the Market Theatre in 2007. In the same year he was cast in Charlotte’s Web at the National Children’s Theatre, playing the role of Templeton the rat.

In 2009 he was cast in Lost in the Stars as Rev Stephen Khumalo, directed by Gina Shmukler. In the same year he was cast in the musical Stand. In 2010 he worked with Gina Shmukler and Rowan Bakker in the musical Songs for a New World.

Arthur was later granted the Wits scholarship to study acting at the Stella Adler studio in New York in 2010. In 2011 he was cast as Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Greg Homann.

In 2014 he appeared in the film Pad na jou hart (Path to your heart) and in 2015 landed his first starring role in television, in the SABC1 sitcom iThuba Lokugcina.
