SA relay quartet cruises into final

Coast – Team South Africa’s 4x100m quartet put themselves in contention for another Commonwealth Games medal when they won their men’s heat at the Carrara Stadium on Friday.
The team of 100m silver medallist Henricho BruintjiesEmile Erasmus – who was brought in specifically for relay duty – Anaso Jobodwana and 100m gold medallist Akani Simbine raced to a time of 38.71 as they won the first of two heats.Australia were second in a season’s best 38.79.According to the Team SA website, the second heat was where the powerhouses lurked and England (38.15), Jamaica (38.44) and Nigeria (38.52) all posted times quicker than South Africa ahead of Saturday final showdown.

The final will take place at 06:40 (SA time) on Saturda
